The National Jewish Day School Foundation founders are career educators Michael and Carol Dean who have a passion for and a commitment to building Jewish identity and values though Jewish day school education. Michael and Carol are graduates of the Florence Melton Adult Education Program. They both attended the PARDES Institute of Jewish Studies and the Aish HaTorah Essentials of Judaism Programs in Jerusalem. In addition to this Foundation, the Deans also have endowed The Tolerance Learning Center in Arizona as well as two, "teaching excellence" award programs at the University of Cincinnati.

Michael Dean is Professor Emeritus at the University of Cincinnati (UC). He holds PhD and MBA degrees in Business Administration from Ohio State University and currently is a "Partners in Torah" student. His corporate experience includes employment at two, Fortune 1,000 companies, one of which he served as a Divisional President. He is the recipient of four distinguished teaching awards at UC and has been recognized nationally by the Freedoms Foundation at Valley Forge for "excellence in private enterprise education." Foundation co-founder Carol L. Dean holds a BA degree in Education from Wayne State University and a Graduate Certification in Special Education from the University of Cincinnati. She is a retired Special Education Teacher, Cincinnati Board of Education, and currently is actively involved in community and synagogue service.
